Group EMDR: Healing in Community

Check out these October Groups!

  • Friday, Oct 3rd, 10am-12pm

    Wednesday, Oct 15th, 6pm-8pm

All you want is to go back to normal, but the truth is, you are not the same person as you were before. In this group, you will process the trauma from discovery to diagnosis through treatment and finally to today with others who have been survived as well. You have survived, now it is time for you to thrive. EMDR can help decrease the distress related to the trauma and negative thoughts and beliefs associated with surviving breast cancer. Always discounted to celebrate my mom and sister’s victories over breast cancer!

  • Friday, Oct 3rd, 1pm-3pm

    Friday, Oct 24th, 9am-11am

We have all experienced it, and yet despite it, we continue to still hold space for others while wondering…am I actually helping? Maybe you are beginning to feel burned out? This group is for every level of mental health workers from graduate school to fully licensed (discounts for students and provisionally licensed). Find relief from imposter syndrome so you can remain present and effective with your clients. Targets for EMDR reprocessing can include past graduate school experiences, a difficult session, feelings of inadequacy, feeling lost with a client, and/or feeling of fraud.

  • Monday, Oct. 6th, 12pm-2pm

Your parenting journey does not look the same as others, but your love for your child is still there. Parenting a neurodivergent child can often be isolating, exhausting, and complicated with stigma. Sometimes you wish your friends and family understood. Enjoy being with a group of women who get it because they are navigating neurodiversity too. EMDR can help decrease distress from the negative thoughts, beliefs, and traumatic experiences related to parenting a child with neurodiversity.

  • Tuesday, Oct 21st, 6pm-8pm

Parenting can be hard at times. Parenting with ADHD can be even even harder. Sometimes the inner dialogue can become a rumination of all your failures and constant to do lists. The constant comparison to other moms might make you feel guilty or as if you will never measure up. You might even think your kids would be better off with a different mom. Rejection sensitivity plagues your relationships and social life. You are not alone with these negative thoughts or beliefs! This group is for moms only who experience the same because like you, they have ADHD as well. EMDR can help reduce the symptoms related to these negative beliefs and/or experiences.

  • Thursday, Oct. 16th, 10am-12pm

Not only is it difficult to live with a chronic illness, it can also be isolating. According to the CDC, 6 out of 10 adults in the United States live with chronic illness. This means you are not alone! Living with the discomforts of having a chronic illness often negatively impacts your mental health. EMDR can help reduce the distressing symptoms related to the trauma of having a chronic illness. Experience healing with others who understand because they are living with illness as well.

  • Friday, Oct. 24th, 12pm-2pm

Are you stuck in the cycle of surviving and overwhelm? Do you feel as though you are always investigating and preparing for the worst case scenario? Is your brain exhausted by the constant rumination of fears and negative thoughts? You are not alone! EMDR in group form has been shown to offer some relief from the distressing symptoms associated with anxiety. Experience the healing power of EMDR in community with others!

  • This protocol allows for many different groups of people with shared traumatic experiences to heal together. The “Blind 2 Therapist” protocol protects participants from stigma, shame, and/or guilt because group participants do not share what their targets are for EMDR reprocessing. BUT, sharing increases the healing experience and decreases isolation. This group protocol can be used with families, groups who experienced same traumatic event, or even coworkers who work in a traumatic stress environment. The group EMDR protocol has even been shown to protect against burnout. Fill out an interest form to see if your group could benefit from EMDR.

FAQs

Are you required to share?

This EMDR group protocol utilizes the “Blind 2 Therapist” protocol in which group members do not share the content they are working on with group members. This protects the confidentiality of the content you wish to work on during the reprocessing section of EMDR.

What if you would like to share?

After reprocessing of traumatic targets, group members are invited to share about their positive healing experiences. You are not required to share at anytime, but are able to experience further healing by hearing the experiences of others. Sharing increases healing because group members no longer feel alone in their struggles!
